Time beside the sea

Black sand and Nang Thong rock

Look for fine black sand mixed into the beach and the large Nang Thong rock offshore. Walk with friends or family and enjoy the sand, rock and sea together. It suits a day when you want a different Khao Lak shore from white sand alone.

Approaching the rock at low tide

Ground near Nang Thong rock can emerge at low tide. How close you may go depends on the tide, waves and local restrictions. Ask locally before approaching and remain within permitted areas. This is not a path you can always walk; when access is not possible, enjoy the black sand and rock from the beach.

Swimming, waves and local conditions

Waves and rip currents can lead to swimming prohibitions. Being able to walk on the beach does not mean entering the sea is allowed. Follow the day’s flags and local restrictions.

Do not swim while red flags are flying. Read the marine forecast before leaving and follow local swimming instructions after arrival. Waves and weather may delay or cancel boat trips, so ask about bad-weather conditions when booking.
