What can you see?

A Cape Panwa aquarium with a research history

Phuket Aquarium has displayed marine life since 1983. Run by a marine research institute, it combines tanks for observing living animals with information about marine resources and conservation.

At the Cape Panwa exhibits, read about the animals’ names and habitats as well as marine conservation. The underwater tunnel and a 12-sided display tank make this more than a single-tank visit.

Watch the animals and divers in the tunnel tank

The tunnel tank gives you a close view of underwater life. If you arrive during a diver feeding session, you can watch divers feed the animals. Notice how the animals move when divers enter a tank you were viewing moments earlier.

The aquarium also features a 12-sided display tank. Take time to observe how the underwater scene differs from tank to tank rather than passing through quickly. Unlike viewing the exhibits at your own pace, feeding sessions take place at set times.

A touch pool, animation and a robotic mermaid

At the touch pool, you can observe seafloor animals at close range and learn about their behaviour. Not every animal is available to touch, so take part only in the way allowed in that area.

After viewing the tanks, look for the underwater-world exhibit with animation and a robotic mermaid from the Yeosu Expo in Korea. Alongside living animals, children can see educational displays using video and robotics.

Before you visit

Check the difference between holiday promotions and general admission

The government’s year-end free admission promotion for Thai visitors applies only to specified visitors and dates. Do not treat it as the regular admission price for travelers from other countries.
