Charoen Krungถนนเจริญกรุง

Bangkok · Area with an old commercial street and creative spaces

Charoen Krung is a long road and surrounding neighbourhood where historic commercial buildings and newer creative spaces line Bangkok’s riverside. Highlights include the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) inside the Central Post Office and Warehouse 30, a group of seven former warehouses on Charoen Krung 30.

After seeing the Central Post Office exterior, browse the bookshops, record shop and cafés beneath the old warehouse roofs. The two buildings have different uses. Charoen Krung is not one single attraction, so decide which places you want to visit first.

Location and getting there

Set your destination to the building you plan to visit

Charoen Krung is a long road. The Central Post Office (Grand Postal Building) and Warehouse 30 are separate buildings. The address 52–60 Soi Charoen Krung 30, Bang Rak is for Warehouse 30 alone.

What can you see?

A design centre inside the Central Post Office

The old riverside commercial district’s Central Post Office building houses the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC). See the grand exterior, then continue inside to the design-related spaces.

Seeing the building’s exterior and using TCDC’s exhibitions and facilities are different visits. What you can see inside depends on which spaces are open on the day.

Warehouse 30 in seven wartime warehouses

Warehouse 30 on Charoen Krung 30 is an arts destination reusing seven warehouses from the Second World War period. Shops selling clothing, homewares, books, flowers and records occupy the old structures.

Where the Central Post Office is a large public building housing a design centre, Warehouse 30 turns several low-rise logistics buildings into small shops and creative spaces. Visiting both shows how historic commercial buildings on Charoen Krung have found different new uses.

Food and event spaces inside the warehouses

Some warehouses contain cafés, restaurants and bars, so you can stop for a meal while browsing the shops. Places to eat and places to shop sit together inside the old buildings, with each warehouse used differently.

Warehouse Seven is a multipurpose venue for films, workshops and other events. Unlike a regular shop visit, individual events take place on specific dates, so what you find inside can vary with your visit day.
