Krabi and Ao Nang · Beach

Ao Nang is reached by road, while Railay West requires a boat. Even on the same Krabi coast, plan around where a vehicle can reach and where you need to board.

Ao Nang Beach

Head to Ao Nang for a Krabi stay combining the sea, meals and boat trips. Limestone cliffs are visible from the shore, with restaurants, hotels and shops nearby. With friends or family, plan a beach walk one day and a trip to Railay or nearby islands another. Take time on the sand before or after your boat journey.

Ao Nang is on mainland Krabi and can be reached by road. Boats leave the shore for Railay and nearby islands. Separate entry conditions apply at each destination.

Railay West Beach

Relax on white sand between limestone cliffs at Railay West, on the west side of the Railay peninsula. Come by boat with your partner or friends for time beside the sea and cliffs. If your return boat is arranged, stay to enjoy the western sea at sunset.

Take a boat from Ao Nang to Railay. Although Railay is a peninsula, you cannot drive straight from Ao Nang to this beach.

Plan the journey after choosing your beach

For mainland beaches, choose your actual drop-off and the route to the shore. For islands and beaches reached by boat, arrange the arrival pier and return journey too. Include the town or island name in searches, as different places can share a beach name.

Do not swim while a red flag is flying.

Do not swim while red flags are flying. Read the marine forecast before leaving and follow local swimming instructions after arrival. Waves and weather may delay or cancel boat trips, so ask about bad-weather conditions when booking.
