This open-air zoo is in Khao Suan Kwang, outside Khon Kaen city. A skywalk passes above the African zone. On days when it is open, you can look over the animal area both from the ground-level exhibit paths and from the elevated walkway.
The skywalk lets you see the African zone from a different height than the ground-level paths. When it is open, you can take in the animal exhibits and the surrounding landscape from above. A tram and golf carts are also listed, but their availability is separate from whether the skywalk is open on your visit day.
The zoo has featured giraffes, Asian elephants, capybaras, white lions and sun conures among its notable animals. A 2025 government article also covered giant anteater breeding and conservation, including a male moved here from Khao Kheow Open Zoo. Families with children curious about animals with very different appearances can choose from a varied range of exhibits.
With its long snout and forelegs, a giant anteater looks very different from a giraffe or capybara. The government article describes the animal transfer in 2025, and the veterinarian and staff team’s work helping the anteater adapt and stay healthy as part of breeding and conservation. It does not mean the animal is always on display on every visit day.
No. It is in Kham Muang, Khao Suan Kwang. It is also a different place from the aquarium at Khon Kaen University’s Nong Khai Campus.
