How do we calculate the average temperature?

The annual average on each card is calculated from the monthly temperature ranges. For example, a month listed as 22–32°C contributes its midpoint, 27°C. We add the 12 midpoints and divide by 12. Each month has equal weight, so differences in month length, such as between February and March, are not included.

The source does not explain which observations the two ends of each temperature range represent or whether every city's figures cover the same period. This estimate therefore differs from an annual average calculated from daily temperature observations. Warmer and cooler months are determined by comparing each monthly midpoint with this estimate. Displayed numbers are rounded, but the comparisons use the unrounded values.

The climate data comes from Greetings from Thailand's monthly climate tables and methodology notes. The site says it uses historical averages covering 30–50 years and names several data providers. However, it does not give observation periods for each city or link to the providers' original statistical tables. Dry and rainy seasons and suggested travel months follow that site's guidance. ThaiLiveNow calculates the estimated annual temperature, warmer and cooler months, and wetter months using the method above.
